Paralegal (Coquitlam, B.C) Our client is a growing law firm in beautiful Coquitlam BC. A relationship-driven law firm focused on providing legal services to business owners and entrepreneurs, seniors, families, and all manner of individuals seeking practical legal advice. Working with the firm's principal lawyer and supporting a team of trusted legal advisors, the firm provides civil and business litigation, commercial real estate and wills and estates. The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth running of the daily office operations and effective file management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the collection and organization of documents and information from various cases at the firm. This candidate should feel comfortable relaying messages between various groups and keeping all documents important to the cases they are working on organized. You have demonstrated experience and the ability to work independently, multi-task effectively, and build client rapport. Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will assume a position of significant responsibility, including but not limited to: Managing files so that they move forward efficiently and accurately Conduct research to support legal proceedings Assist with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents Client communication Drafting Wills/POA’s, Estate Applications, Corporate transactions Record and store client information Preparing legal documents in both Supreme and Provincial Courts Setting examinations for discovery, mediations and various court dates Scheduling lawyer's calendar and ensuring deadlines and limitations are met Receiving and prioritizing incoming correspondence Drafting correspondence with client's and counsel Conducting land title searches Managing lawyer's calendars and scheduling Court dates Preparing Lists of Documents Billings and Receivables and Office Management Qualifications, Skills and Competencies: 3-5 years’ experience; Paralegal certificate or a Diploma/Undergraduate degree with an equivalent of experience Background in litigation, conveyancing, corporate/commercial and/or wills and estates considered an asset; Completion of Legal Assistant or Paralegal Certificate/Diploma or equivalent; Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, BC Online, Clio, eConveyance, Soluno, and/or Cloud-based time, billing, and accounting software; Ability to grasp new technologies quickly; Demonstrated critical thinking, analysis and research skills; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and confidential information; Excellent time management and organizational skills; Willingness to learn; and You are fun, humorous and have a roll-up the sleeves work ethic.
