GFL Environmental is looking for a US Payroll Administrator to join our growing team out of our Vaughan Corporate Office! The Payroll Administrator will work as part of the payroll team to be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of US payroll, maintenance of employee record as well as performing various payroll related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process multi-frequency and multi-state payrolls for salaried, hourly and unionized employees
  • Process all regular, commission, bonuses and other special payments in a timely and accurate manner
  • Input for payroll data entry; PTO pay outs, allowances, increases, retro-active adjustments, verify and input taxable benefits, set up withholding orders and others as required
  • Import data from time and attendance program (Agile/eTime); balance and review data for accuracy and completeness and troubleshooting errors
  • Perform payroll audit to ensure accurate payroll result
  • Process off cycle or payroll adjustments as needed
  • Ability to reconcile quarterly and annual tax filing
  • Process payroll using Workday Payroll, cross train and act as backup for other team members
  • Audit new hires, process terminations in payroll and time & attendance software
  • Effectively respond to payroll enquires
  • Experience in preparation of W2 and distribution
  • Assist team in reviewing and developing internal policies and procedures
  • Assist in preparation of month end journal entries for payroll, review and reconcile data for accuracy

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • 3+ years' of full cycle experience with a high volume payroll of 1000+ employees and multi-state payroll
  • Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience with Workday Payroll, preferred
  • Knowledge of US payroll tax requirements and 401K
  • Experience in union payroll is an asset
  • Well organized, self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Intermediate knowledge in Excel
  • Able to maintain confidential information; deal with people sensitively and professionally at all time
  • Over time may be required on occasion
