Mechanical Engineer - Mobile Fleet Strategy Be part of a group that is safety driven and values inclusion Expand and develop your technical expertise in our newly modernized aluminum smelter Based in beautiful, Kitimat, BC About the role We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Asset Management team, where they will be responsible for preparing and executing the mobile fleet strategy for the entire Smelter while collaborating with Operations and Maintenance by providing technical expertise and support in the areas of maintenance, reliability, engineering, field execution/supervision and projects for our mobile fleet. Reporting to the Asset Management Superintendent and working a Monday to Friday schedule, you will be: Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards - actively leading, and engaging in safety initiatives promoting our “Zero harm” safety culture; Responding to all inquiries and bids on fleet vehicle purchasing and leases to meet mobile equipment standards and coordinate with procurement and project engineering teams; Receiving and placing orders for internal customers for mobile equipment repair by external vendors and coordinates invoicing and delivery process; Assisting in development and monitoring of annual maintenance budgets for the site mobile equipment fleet; Coordinating vehicle replacement and 5 year vehicle plan for the site and support-manage company leasing strategy and lease agreements; Actively pursuing technological solutions to monitor and optimize fleet; Reviewing design and operational tasks for job hazard analysis, performing risk assessments, and acting as a technical resource for safe work procedures; Performing root cause analysis and defect eliminations to improve the reliability of the area’s equipment; Managing reliability improvement projects performed internally; Applying asset management best practices and drive improvement initiatives; Maintain and improve preventive and predictive maintenance program; Improving maintenance tactics as per asset management guideline; Responding and providing technical assistance to maintainers regarding electrical equipment problems; Managing insurance and commercial vehicle inspection program for the fleet. About you To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: A strong safety mindset and ability to follow safe work procedures Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering 3 years of experience in a maintenance or reliability engineering role. Previous experience with managing a fleet of vehicles. Previous Reliability Engineering experience.
