Job description This position is primarily responsible for verifying the quality of the manufactured products and ensuring that all products are free of defects. It performs non-destructive testing utilizing X-Ray technology on HLV produced Castings to detect detrimental discontinuities and other irregularities beneath their surfaces. Typical job duties - Ensures that all products are free of defects and in conformity with Customers' requirements and Howmet's quality standards by performing non-destructive testing - Interprets radiographic film for indications of casting defects - Operates and calibrates the densitometer to determine film exposure quality. - Approves test exposures of production runs for x-ray operators, using densitometer and reference film for angles, proper film, pentameters, and tags. Must also troubleshoot and analyze improper test exposures. - Completes reader reports, audit report forms, and maintains other routine files and double checks serialization on all forms and films. - Expedites castings within the department as necessary. - Communicates with supervision and engineering regarding castings. - Respects the values and code of ethics of the company. - Respects the Environment, Health & Safety programs of the company. Qualifications : - Possess a technical College degree preferably in metallurgy or equivalent. - Level II certification mandatory; level II radiographic interpretation Can/CGSB-48.9712. - Must have one-year experience as a certified X-Ray Level II. Must be certified Level II and have experience in radiography of castings and weldments. Film interpretation experience would be an asset. - Must be able to demonstrate basic skills in arithmetic. - Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical and assembly drawings, and process specifications. - Must be able to interpret all internal casting defects. - Ability to measure within close tolerances and provide reports as required by inspection and test plans. - Must be thoroughly familiar with all customer specifications. - Ability to work with computers.
