Job title Director of Leasing Reports to President and COO Job purpose The individual will carry out leasing and related activities, including prospecting, negotiating new leases, renewals for a portfolio of shopping centres (strip plazas and enclosed malls) across Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to research and reporting on the various markets, develop and maintain business relationships with commercial real estate brokers, prospecting for suitable tenants in accordance with leasing strategy for each property and negotiating lease transactions and renewals. Duties and responsibilities The primary duties and responsibilities are as follows: Identify and pursue new tenancies for specific projects Prepare, negotiate and document lease proposals Monitor all existing tenants and take proactive measures to renew where appropriate Develop and maintain business relationship with commercial real estate brokers, retailers and clients Gather, provide and oversee marketing information in order to advertise vacancies Research and report on leasing activity in market Assist accounts receivables with difficult tenant files in order to get payment Liaise with the Legal Department to ensure accuracy of documentation Liaise with the various departments such as operations, legal and lease administration Visit various properties to ensure a strong understanding of various markets and locations Prepare and revise leasing plans for annual budgets, annual reports and quarterly investor newsletters Manage tenant bankruptcy files and license agreements for each of the properties Attend ICSC shopping cntre / retailer conferences Qualifications Real Estate Broker’s license is an asset 5-10 years of experience in retail leasing Bilingual - English and French Ideally a university degree or ICSC Management certifications Strong communication skills for interaction with prospective tenants, brokers and clients Exceptional negotiating skills Effective time management skills and able to handle multiple tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment
