As an Electrical Lab Technician at eLeapPower, you will be supporting the product engineering team by assisting with assembly, rework, testing, and integration tasks. You will also be responsible for operating & taking care of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and loads. You will work with our Founder, R&D & customer's engineering teams, as well as suppliers to complete the final design-for-manufacture and integration of the product.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leading lab management, including equipment and component procurement, standard operation procedure setup, health and safety, and day to day operations
  • Support the physical integration and packaging of power electronic prototype systems for vehicular applications
  • Wiring of systems, connector and component selection
  • Soldering and unsoldering connectors, through-hole components and low-pin-count SMT components
  • Support laboratory verification and test procedures
  • Ensure that laboratory activities adhere to electrical safety practices
  • Assemble power electronic units in electric vehicles
  • Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and supplies

Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with soldering equipment to rework a variety of electrical components including small surface mount devices
  • Aptitude towards conceptualization, part selection, and assembly of test equipment
  • Experience with a wide range of hand/power tools and equipment such as soldering irons, crimp tools, hot air soldering guns, pliers, wrenches
  • Strong grasp of electrical fundamentals (Ohms law, etc.)
  • Experience with component specification and sourcing
  • Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams
  • Experience in physical integration and packaging of electro-mechanical systems
  • Completion of at least a 3 year diploma in electrical technology, or equivalent education or experience
  • Team player with strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented, with problem-solving skills and the ability to influence others and successfully resolve a variety of prototype fabrication related issues
  • Excellent communication skills

Additional Assets:
  • Experience with PCB design software such as Altium
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Solidworks or experience with any software tools for FEA
  • Experience in working with electrical machines and power electronics
  • Experience developing and maintaining mechanical design documentation including bills of material, assembly drawings, and component lists
  • Experience with dynamometers
