POSITION OVERVIEW

As Portfolio Coordinator, you support the team in all aspects of its operations with particular focus on providing continuing information resources on the operational performance of WIT Fund portfolio of companies and supporting initiatives to support portfolio companies overall. You are highly organized with a strong attention to detail and excellent communications skills. A team player, you work with the team to collect and prepare standard and customized reports and help maintain up to date reporting and analytics on fund performance. Your customer first approach lends well to liaising with our portfolio companies, supporting a number of projects and initiatives that provide ongoing value.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Act as the team’s information resource on the financial and operational performance of the group’s portfolio at the aggregate level, as well as by industry sector, investment stage and the like through the use of iLevel and other sources;

  • Work closely with the team to prepare and maintain comparative measures of how our portfolio is performing against others in the market;

  • Participate in strategic discussions on portfolio management strategy, contribute to development and ongoing maintenance of the team’s business plan, and monitor progress against plan;

  • Research, manage, and communicate ongoing and up to date information on portfolio news and coordinate additional promotion of portfolio news/activities;

  • Efficiently retrieve required information and manage all data sources (periodicals, reference manuals, research websites, market research studies, etc.) so that information is readily accessible in an effective manner;

  • Develop and maintain liaison with BDC personnel and/or external parties to ensure continuous dissemination and coordination of information including assistance in the coordination of content for the Thrive newsletter;

  • Liaise with Venture Partners and other resources working with the portfolio to ensure invoicing, reporting and related activities are complete, accurate, and supported;

  • Coordinate portfolio related activities (webinars, portfolio events and the like) as needed or scheduled;

  • Work with the team to keep abreast of VC industry activities that may have an impact on the investment thesis, and contribute to positive industry visibility;

  • Provide administrative and research services to a number of people simultaneously and assist with compiling operational statistics, preparing activity reports, managing filing systems, preparing forms (disbursements, authorizations, amendments, activity reports, etc.) and overseeing the distribution/coordination of share certificates, etc.;

  • Ensure the efficiency of operations by assisting in the updating and entering of appropriate information into the financial management software as required, and by supporting on transaction closings.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • One to three years of work experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, management consulting with technology companies

  • Undergraduate degree in business, engineering or computer science, with a preference for MBA

  • Interest in early stage technology ecosystem, startups

  • Relevant experience within a startup or emerging technology company

  • A team player with strong verbal and written skills in both official languages (English and French) and demonstrated ability to produce and deliver clear and concise oral, written and PowerPoint presentations

  • Excellent organization skills and detailed-oriented with a self-starter mentality and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively, deal with abstract concepts and multi-task

  • Highly proficient in Excel and financial modelling with an ability to prepare financial forecasts and pro-forma financial statements

  • Strong customer first mindset with an interest in helping our portfolio companies succeed

  • Capability of taking initiatives and an ability to work independently, remotely and within a small team environment, rolling up their sleeves and getting the job done

  • Passionate about technology, entrepreneurship and investing and interested in bringing a can-do attitude to a growing and dynamic team
