Rogers is seeking an Sr. Equipment Engineering Standards Specialist reporting to the Manger, Equipment Engineering Standards, National. This position is based out of our Brampton campus with travel to other GTA offices as required. The specialist will be accountable to write standards for Access Network Radio Base Station Equipment Engineering detailed designs for all moves/adds/changes to support capital build programs at over 6000 remote cellular sites. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills and technical acumen to drives results and have the ability to lead through influence, build strong relationships and work collaboratively with all levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare Network Implementation Guidelines (NIG) for equipment installed in network. - Explore new product and standards by managing equipment vendors to keep developing products that supports Rogers needs. - Provide forecast (In coordination of regional teams) for long lead time items to PMO - Provide technical support to all regional teams nationwide. - Work closely with cross functional teams to Identify program's engineering requirements - Define scope of Work and work on Request For Information (RFI), Request For Quote (RFQ) and qualifying products and doing cost analysis - Write technical documents (Standards, Guidelines, technical case studies - Provide Subject Matter Expert opinion to Managers and above in national strategic meetings Key Qualifications: - Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Network Wireless Engineering role - Post Secondary education in Engineering or related discipline. - Strong technical writing ability. - Good understanding of Telecommunication Engineering Concepts for Wireless cell sites including knowledge of Power systems, Rectifiers, Batteries, Routers (Cisco), Cabinet/WIC types etc - Cisco Certification is an asset - Professional Engineering designation an asset - Strong problem solving, troubleshooting decision making skills - Superior communication (written and verbal), negotiation and facilitation skills with various audiences. - Must have the ability to consistently and collaboratively resolve issues, mitigate roadblocks, and align teams.
