Job Title: Bilingual Commercial Mortgage Funder Department: Commercial Reports To: Manager, Commercial Mortgage Funding Purpose of Job The Commercial Mortgage Funder is responsible for funding all commercial mortgage product types, including conventional, CMHC insured, construction and operating lines ensuring compliance with the company’s established lending guidelines and legal/AML requirements.Additional funding related and administrative duties are also required such as processing payments, partial discharges, subsequent advances, instructing solicitors, processing assumptions, networking with clients, brokers and other external business partners as well as staff within the Credit & Risk Management group and other internal departments. Main Activities On a daily basis, the incumbent will obtain and review legal/AML documentation, prepare solicitor instructions and fund commercial credit facilities, together with additional administrative duties, for all commercial mortgage product types, including conventional, CMHC insured, construction, inventory and operating lines.Attention must be made to ensure compliance with the Company’s established lending guidelines, legal/AML requirements and procedures.The incumbent is responsible to ensure all funding and AML criteria have been satisfied and outstanding documentation/conditions, if any, are being met in a timely manner.The incumbent will assist cross-functional departments with the translation of French documents (65%). On a daily basis, the incumbent will be responsible for follow up on post funding duties including diary items and final reports (10%). On a daily basis, the incumbent is responsible for time management of their deal flow in order to meet prescribed deadlines (10%). On a daily basis, the incumbent will communicate with internal contacts (underwriters, managers, administrators and commercial mortgage sales staff) and external contacts (lending partners, mortgage brokers, solicitors and clients) to ensure transactions are processed in a timely and efficient manner in order to deliver superior customer service (10%). On a monthly basis, the incumbent will be responsible for the preparation of specific reports on assigned categories (i.e. final reports, productivity report, etc.) required for the department/Company which will be relied upon by Senior Management (5%). Knowledge/Skill Requirements Have a minimum of 3 years’ commercial mortgage funding experience Post-secondary education (diploma/degree), preferably in business or finance Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Training Fluent in both English and French Fully bilingual in both reading and writing Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Excel) Strong analytical skills Sound technical knowledge of secured lending Established organizational skills Ability to handle multiple competing priorities Good time management skills Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond in a clear, concise and professional manner Equitable Bank is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from all qualified candidates.
